Side Quest 003: {Hoshi wo Ou Kodomo} Gather Ideas and Inspiration from Anime - In Progress
Hoshi wo Ou Kodomo is an Anime Movie. It is a Adventure Drama.
The movie is about a young girl meeting a mysterious boy who saves her from a dangerous situation. That's all I can really say about the story without spoiling oh and she has a cute little pet!
The theme of the anime is Life and Death. The Anime is portraying a journey to find oneself and teaching the characters and the audience of the concept of Life and Death.
I quite enjoyed it, a big change from typical Anime tropes. I mostly liked how they portrayed the importance of everything rather than ignore minor characters.
What I learnt from this film is that when making stories, every character should have their own, no matter how minor of a character they are, although that's what this anime made me think, I don't think its shown as much in the film but all of the important character's development were explained well during the movie.
I guess I'd give this 8/10
I recommend to those who want a change of pace in Anime. Note that I haven't seen all of Studio Ghibili's films and I've seen 1 or 2 of em back in high school for a class and they felt similar.

Daily Quest: {1 month disappearance} Daily Happenings
Firstly I apologize for my absence for those of you who even follow my posts (Don't think there's many of you yet. xD)
My friends thought it was a good idea to get me back into Warframe, and that's where most of my time went, along with Anime and the usual stuffs. I was planning on studying on developing games these holidays too. I was really about to start 2 weeks before classes start, then BOOM - PAYDAY 2 BETA OUT NOW! Dropped everything I was doing and downloaded that shiz.
Well good news is that I got a new laptop! And it can run stuff on High! =D
Which means that I will probably get less or hopefully no lag when playing Oculus Rift games, which I am planning on doing in between doing classwork.
This semester I'll be learning how to use UDK and a bunch of other web stuff and 3D stuff. So I might actually update this with actual progress! Might start recording Payday 2 Gameplay too - if I get time or can be bothered.

Side Quest 003: {Aku no Hana 06} Gather Ideas and Inspiration from Anime - In Progress
So this Anime finally finished? No, apparently it was only Part One.
So this anime might continue one day, although I think a lot of people disliked it, mainly because of it's art style and slow paced story.
But I kinda liked this Anime in my own way, it made me think about myself, and what I would've done in those situations, and curiosity is what drove me to watch the next episode.
I think Aku no Hana was trying to show in realistic ways of a choice, the path which most won't take if they had to choose. Also I believe Aku no Hana was trying to portray a person's true colors even if that person is unaware of their own true colors. Or it could be the power of a person's actions can drastically change their and other people's lives.
I guess I give it a 7/10.

Side Quest 003: {Aku no Hana 05} Gather Ideas and Inspiration from Anime - In Progress
Truth. That is the keyword for episode 10 of Aku no Hana
I surprisingly enjoyed this episode, it showed a lot of emotion yet confusion on what goes on on his mind. But a truth has been told and we have some clarity to what goes into his mind and some clue to why he acts the way he does in the previous episodes.
Nothing really bad in this episode, nothing was dragged out like some other episodes.. It was actually really interesting progress.

Side Quest 002: {Shingeki no Kyojin Criticism /*No Spoilers*/} Recommend Anime to the Internets - In Progress
Shingeki no Kyojin Criticism /*No Spoilers*/
Don't get me wrong I LOVE THIS ANIME.
But there is one thing that bugs me almost every single episode (so far), a lot of them drags on at different parts and progresses really slowly to the point where there is almost always a cliffhanger every episode.
Well I don't know if they're real cliffhangers or I'm just way too excited for the next episode, but a lot of the time, something important is about to happen and they end the episode.
Cliffhangers are good, but not nearly every episode, that just starts to piss people or maybe just me off.
BUT I still recommend this anime to everyone. It has a great story and great characters.
Although if you don't like cliffhangers each episode, you could just wait for the whole series to finish then watch it, but I can't since I'm not that patient. =/
P.S. MIKASAAAAAA!

Daily Quest: {Assignments & Future Company Name/Logo} Daily Happenings
I've been busy a lot these past months doing assignments and all, which is the reason why I haven't progressed too far on my game developing skills, I still am doing my assignments.
Although with one of my assignments I had to create my own game company website, so instead of creating it for just an assignment, I decided to make it my actual game company name.
It's called "BITSharp Studios".
I did a quick Google search if it existed and it didn't! So don't go stealing my name other companies!

Side Quest 003: {Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom} Gather Ideas and Inspiration from Anime - In Progress
Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom
I just finished watching this anime, I just couldn't stop watching it, I even gave up sleep just to watch it (I like to watch anime late at night, especially if it's a dark theme).
But I should tell you what the anime is about. To be honest, it's quite difficult to explain without spoiling the anime, even the description, so I'll just explain from what you'll learn from the Anime.
This isn't some badass Anime where assassins just kill everything (this is a Seinen Anime not a typical shounen), it has deeper meaning, I guess it's rediscovery of oneself. Rediscovery? Yes, the main character loses his memories of the past and is turned to an assassin.
But in this Anime, the main character not only attempts to rediscover himself, but also we learn in a surprisingly realistic way of what the life of a assassin would look like. Not only that, but due to many various events, you could expect anything to happen.
This Anime made me feel a whole bunch of emotions, happy, sad, angry, confused. I guess this is why I like Seinen Anime, they have more mature stories which creates many emotions, and is not bounded by typical Anime norms.
Recommendation
This Anime reminded me a lot of Gungrave and Darker than Black, and are similar in many ways. Although it is unique to other Anime of this type.
Ideas and Inspiration
This is another Anime which I could reference to for a deeper meaningful story and of one way of how assassins come to be. I also haven't seen many games that showed how the learnt how to use a gun, and they're just simply born with it. Also since I'm planning on having masked people in a future game I'm planning it helps a lot more.
I give it a personal bias 10/10, the Anime itself I probably give it a 9/10 due to some unexplained stuff.

Main Quest 002: {VR Cinema 3D} Oculus Rift - In Progress
I've finally found the VR Cinema, which I've seen back before I even got my Oculus Rift, thanks to the update from Oculus. https://developer.oculusvr.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=1140
Also I also confirmed that I get very minimal motion sickness, when watching a movie in VR cinema (I watched The Matrix: Revolutions with no breaks which is almost 2 hours minus the credits)
The developer's website is: http://uxground.com/ and is in Korean but you can just scroll down and find VR Cinema 3D
There is also a 3D mode, where if you can find a side by side video (sbs) you can view it in 3D!

Side Quest 003: {Aku no Hana 04} Gather Ideas and Inspiration from Anime - In Progress
Aku no Hana
Yep this anime yet again to sum this episode up without too much of a spoiler is:
Walking, walking, walking, more walking, something actually happens.
Yay! Walking! |
I think they made half the episode walking to build the suspense for what was about to happen, although they took it way too far.
So I heard you like walking, so here's more walking! =D |
I recommend just skipping to the 14 minute mark and watch from there, maybe even a minute before to get slightly more suspense. The only thing that happens before then is that he goes home then goes back to school.

Side Quest 003: {Aku no Hana 03} Gather Ideas and Inspiration from Anime - In Progress
Aku no Hana
Yep, it's this infamous anime again, Aku no Hana.
Warning, there might be minor spoilers in this post. You have been warned.
A word to give you a clue to what this episode is about is: "Bloom"
This episode I thought I had predicted, all his actions seemed to go as I thought it'd go, then something happened, something I didn't expect and I still have no idea of why he did it. I might just watch the previous episodes to understand what was in his mind.
But all this has made me curious on what happens next, it's not like an ending where its a cliffhanger, but makes you curious on what's going to happen next.
So if you're curious what goes through the mind of a boy in every episode of this Anime, who did something impulsive and socially unacceptable in a realistic manner, this Anime is perfect for you.

Side Quest 003: {Gungrave} Gather Ideas and Inspiration from Anime - In Progress
Image directly taken from myanimelist.com |
Gungrave
I just finished watching Gungrave, and it has made it into my top favourites of all time.
Reminded a lot of Trigun and Berserk, it was unpredictable, there were many parts where you would think that it was going to happen 100% but then, boom, change, surprise.
I just can't find words to describe this anime, it's just beautifully written in a original way, it wasn't a stereotypical story of work for a guy to see a girl (the description in myanimelist mislead me somewhat, but that was my misinterpretation). It had more deeper meaning, and understanding this whole anime will lead you to the answer of the last question of the anime. It's pretty obvious I guess, for me at least.
This anime will show you what Bros before Hoes really is.
I'd recommend this anime to everyone who has watched Berserk or Trigun.
Side Quest 003: {Aku no Hana 02} Gather Ideas and Inspiration from Anime - In Progress
Aku no Hana cont.
6 episodes in and you start to realise how such trivial things (in most anime), put in certain settings, can turn it to a psychological thriller. The realism of this anime is quite scary, especially if you can relate to the main character somewhat.
Also since episode 4, the OP now calls you a piece of shit.
I recommend this anime to those only who are interested in watching a serious, realistic, psychological show, with an art style that is radically different from a large percentage of anime (I assume that there is probably another anime with the same art style, as of this post, I do not know any anime which has the same art style as Aku no Hana)

Main Quest 002: {Injuries and Amazement} Oculus Rift - In Progress
Day 2 using the Oculus Rift - Injuries and Amazement
Tonight I decided to try the Sixense Tuscany Demo, it the exact same thing as the Tuscany demo, but it makes use of the Razer Hydra and enables you to interact with objects using the Razer Hydra!
Injuries? Yes during this demo I was trying to throw up barrels and successfully did a few times, when I started to fail, I tried to slap one of the barrels and whack, I hit the edge of my table with my thumb. Ironically that was what I probably would've felt if I slapped a real barrel with my thumb only slightly less pain. XD
After I was done patching myself up, I remember downloading a demo from the forums from a developer who not only was developing a demo for the Oculus Rift but also the creator of Legend of Dungeon (or someone who contributed), a robotloveskitty member or something.
The title of the post was "Rift + Hydra = Flying like a Hero" as you can see from the title, you can see from the title, its about flying using the Oculus Rift and the Razer Hydra. The world was also a Tron-like theme.
At first I was confused at the controls, thinking that just pressing down the triggers accelerates the character, but as usual I was wrong, so I looked back at the post and saw a flying lesson video (it wasn't there when I first downloaded it a while back). So then after watching a bit of it, I got a basic idea of how flying worked.
So controlling the character is quite simple but takes a bit of time getting used to, and to those who get airsick easily, I don't recommend you try this. You simply push or pull the analog stick to accelerate, press the triggers to go faster and you rotate and move your fists to move in a particular direction. You can apparently do rolls and stuff but I have yet to find out how to do it properly.
My experience of this demo was at first slow, just learning how to fly properly, but once I got the hang of it, I really felt like I was flying, it was like you are really in the air and while I was flying I breathed in then out after I went through a circle, and after going through all the circles I took a deep breath, just like I was there.
It felt like I was a kid pretending to fly around with his hands up in the air.

Main Quest 002: {The Arrival} Oculus Rift - In Progress
Oculus Rift now in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia!
After 9 months of waiting I have finally at long last got my Oculus Rift!
Here's a few unboxing photos!
Here's a few unboxing photos!
The box that contains the future.
Top of the Oculus Rift case.
Bottom of the Oculus Rift's case.
The opened case of the Virtual Reality Headset.
My first day with the Oculus Rift
There it was, the Oculus Rift, finally in my hands (and head) I opened it up and found it came in a durable case which helps greatly because I was afraid it might be easily destroyed in my room.
I then opened the flaps to the case and there it was.. The Oculus Rift all wrapped in plastic, waiting to be mounted on my head. But my first issue arrived, in regards to the AC power adapter, I looked first at what I first thought, just a AUS plug adapter, I was trying to pry it open thinking it was covered by a lid, then I looked at the actual AC power adapter and saw that the plug was removable *face palm*.
Now that I finally fixed that issue I plugged all the things in and powered it on, a few new issues arrive. The lenses were soo close that I felt my eyelashes pressing against them, I turned the screws on the sides but nothing happened.. Until I decide to turn it the other way *face palm again*.
Issue solved! Shouldn't be more issues right? Nope, still a few more but this time it wasn't my stupidity! (Yay!). I tried playing TF2 but a black screen appeared after the loading screen, it was then I found out that you had to change the resolution settings to either make the Oculus Rift the main view, or Duplicate the views. HOWEVER since my laptop didn't support the same resolution of the Oculus Rift (1280 x 800 I believe) I had to Extend Displays and set the Oculus Rift as the main one, the only downside is that I had to launch everything via the Oculus Rift display, which doesn't display all of the desktop and quite an eye strain.
That looks like all the issues right? No.
I felt slightly motion sick after using them for around 20 min or more and I read somewhere that they recommended to use it in 10 minute intervals or something like that, which would mean it was mostly my fault.
Another issue, is my laptop, which I believed wiped off a few frames while using the Oculus Rift which could of increased my motion sickness, I'm looking to invest for a better laptop or even a desktop, however since I have no income I cannot really do so.
Finally my last issue which is to do with in-game is that I cannot see distant objects properly, it looks quite blurry for me, I have perfect vision, so I believe it could be a calibration issue or even possibly a technical issue. I'm currently looking into solving this problem.
Well despite all these issues, I still somewhat felt immersed and I'm hoping to fix all these problems in the future!
Edit: After a little more tinkering and closer observation, I discovered that the cause of my motion sickness was not the Oculus Rift itself, it was camera, rotating the camera with a mouse or analog stick gave me a weird motion feeling. And the blurry of distant objects was mostly fixed by some tinkering.

Side Quest 003: {Aku no Hana 01} Gather Ideas and Inspiration from Anime - In Progress
Aku no Hana
A strange anime with a different from usual art style.Where do I start.. probably on what most people would hate about the anime - the art style of the animation.
Why would people hate this Anime's art style? Well it is a more realistic style of art where they main characters are based on real people with realistic resemblance and detail, including freckles. The animation is also very realistic in regards to facial expressions and body expressions.
The reason I believe they chose to use this art style was to enhance the feeling of how realistically possible that the situations shown in the Anime.
The theme of the Anime is a dark, depressing and psychological.
The Anime as of yet has no unrealistic scenes and I believe it will not.
The Anime's name translated to English is apparently: Flowers of Evil
Now you might have an idea on how it visually seems to be, but let me attempt to explain the story in a non spoiler fashion.
The story is of a male student in a school who reads a book about sins and evil etc. But it's somewhat poetic or something. One day he gets into a situation where he impulsively does something which happens to change his school life. Another female student witnessed this act of impulsiveness and takes advantage of the situation. Simply put, she's the one who makes it psychological.
From the first few episodes, I personally found this Anime quite weird, yet I'm curious on what is going to happen next, despite how weird it is.
If this Anime's art style was created in the typical way, it would not have felt as psychological as it is and the story might of seemed stupid.
Also the OST of this anime is very eerie. Especially that ED...
What Ideas could you or I get from this Anime?
Well since this Anime is very different from most Anime, we could learn how simple mistakes or events could be shown in such a serious way that it turns from stupid to psychological.
In short, ideas might bloom from this flower for a Horror/Psychological Game

Side Quest 003: {Infinite Ryvius} Gather Ideas and Inspiration from Anime - In Progress
Infinite Ryvius (Mugen no Ryvius)
The anime Infinite Ryvius revolves around a ship called Ryvius, which was discovered due to various events, but we'll skip to the main plot.
The main plot is that there are hundreds of children who are aged 18 or younger who are attempting to survive in a unknown space vehicle while being attacked by enemies.
The anime attempts to portray how children of different abilities would emotionally feel and react to various issues. Infinite Ryvius does this in a realistic way with little to no illogical miracles that appear out of nowhere.
The main thing I want to gather from this anime is to find out in more detail on how and why the characters turned out to what they are, as this would greatly influence my ability to design characters and how they would interact with each other.
This is a very original anime and you should watch it! It's a bit old, but if you like character development and story over animation quality, you'll enjoy it! I give it a 9/10
Main Quest 001: Pick your poison - In Progress
What should I use to make games?
For a while now, I've been wondering what programming language or game engine I should learn to use, I have a basic understanding of code and have been trying out Python and Unity.
I have heard that Python is an easier language to learn and that Unity is a good engine, but I have just recently found out that the Oculus Rift is only compatible with Unity Pro and not the free version.
I am thinking of learning how to use UDK to get a better understanding on how games are created then proceed to learn a programming language to create a game from scratch, most likely C++.

Side Quest 002: {"Shingeki no Kyojin" aka Attack of the Titans} Recommend Anime to the Internets - In Progress
Shingeki no Kyojin
FIRST EPISODE OUT. WATCHED IT. FKINGAWESOMESAUCE.
Okay, maybe I'm just a little hyped up about this Anime, or just easily amazed. Here I was thinking Bakuman and Zetusen no Tempest were going to be the best anime of the year for me, although they probably are for their genres.
But this new Anime for this season came out of nowhere (for me at least).
At first I thought this was going to be a generic action Anime with flashy effects and stuff BUT I was fortunately mistaken and drove me to a sensation similar to what I felt when I watched the Berserk Anime series (not the movies), they have very similar sort of themes and the art style looked to be influenced by Berserk itself.
Not only this but the Director, Araki Tetsurou directed Death Note, Guilty Crown and Highschool of the Dead some of my favourite Anime of all time. In addition Kyoji Asano, the Character Designer of Shingeki no Kyojin, worked on Guilty Crown, Psycho-Pass and Sengoku Basara.
The Anime also reminded me of Lost Planet, How?
Not the snow. But groups of people working cooperatively in order to take down beings of greater scale despite their size. Also they have grapple-hook-winch thingies.
Whether or not you read any of this, is not the point, what I'm trying to say is..

Side Quest 001: {Ready Player One by Ernest Cline} Gather Inspiration & knowledge from books - In Progress
The book Ready Player One is just simply amazing, it has a perfect balance of friendship, video game references, love and tragedies.
This is also the first fictional book that I personally picked up and read (and hoping to re-read) in years.
It completely immersed me in it's fictional world within a fictional world, with a theme I like and which is scarily a possibility that might happen to us in the future, which made the book more immersive and believable.
It also directly referenced a lot (and I mean A LOT) of games and movies which made me feel more relateable to the main character.
There is soo much I like about this book, that I can't put into words, so I just recommend to read the book.
